[April 22, Sevilla]
We are staying at the Hotel Amadeus, a unique 14-room hotel in the Barrio Santa Cruz. It is run by a family devoted to music, and musical motifs and instruments fill the hotel. When we checked in, Carmen was playing on a DVD in the lobby (how appropriate for Sevilla, her home!).
Each room is named after a maestro; ours is Wagner.
There are antique instruments in displays, and functional instruments available for loan to guests. There are two sound-proofed practice/performance rooms, equipped with pianos. We were told that major performers often stay in the hotel, to enjoy its ambience.
