[April 9, Santiago de Compostela]
This image of the prophet Daniel, in the cathedral of Santiago, is staring directly at a statue of a buxom lady, across the vestibule of the church.
That is, she was originally sculpted in plentiful abundance. But a cautious bishop, mindful of the spiritual dangers facing his flock, insisted that the sculptor perform breast reduction surgery on the statue. The parishioners resented his robbing them of a simple pleasure, and retaliated by creating the local cheese,
tetilla, in the form of what they missed.
