[April 8, en route Santiago de Compostela]
We show this rather poor photo shot from a window of a moving train for two reasons:
First, this is probably not what comes to mind when you think of Spain. Rolling, well watered, small farm holdings. This is Galicia, the part called "Green Spain", with a cool rainy climate reminiscent of the American Pacific Northwest.
Second, the rain is proving a damper on our plans. We are being dogged by unseasonably cold rainy weather, that the locals all agree is unusual. As a policy we never travel in the summer months, to avoid both heat and crowds. The risk in spring and fall is bad weather; sometimes we are lucky, sometimes not.
