Lindbergh wasn't the first

[April 2, Lisbon (Belem)]

Lindbergh was not the first to cross the Atlantic in a plane.

The first to cross the South Atlantic (in 1922) was  "Lieutenant Commander Sacadura Cabral (pilot) and Cdr. Gago Coutinho (navigator) of Portugal, using three Fairey IIID floatplanes (Lusitania, Portugal, and Santa Cruz) used successively after two ditchings, make first flight across the South Atlantic, using only internal means of navigation ... from Lisbon, Portugal, to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil" [Wikipedia] The monument above and

the real Santa Cruz are at Belem, a suburb of Lisbon.

Some other interesting aircraft in the National Maritime Museum are

a 1917 float plane

and a Grumman Widgeon
